We were appointed to identify Circular Economy opportunities for HS2. We are collaborating with our sister company Expedition Engineering and contractor BAM to deliver the project; bringing together sustainability expertise, engineering ingenuity and BAM’s construction leadership for the circular economy.
Our scope was to identify existing work linked to circular economy, identify additional opportunities, evaluate and prioritise these to understand where circular economy principles can deliver value for the programme, and develop robust business cases.
The circular economy offers HS2 the potential to unlock value from the innovative use of resources over the life cycle of the project. It has the potential to deliver lower capital and operational costs as well as lower risk. At the same time, circular design solutions can reduce the consumption of virgin materials and all the associated environmental impacts.
