Milton Keynes Density Study

Client:
Milton Keynes Council
Role:
Strategic study
Status:
Completed

Milton Keynes has been highlighted by the Centre for Cities as one of the UK’s five ‘Fast Growth Cities’. Useful Projects worked with sister company Useful Studio to prepare a report on density as part of the Milton Keynes Futures 2050 Commission. Our report positions Milton Keynes in context as one of the UK’s fastest growing cities, identifies opportunities for growth and, through the use of successful precedents, sets out approaches to appropriate and considered land intensification that can provide social, economic and environmental benefits to the city.  The focus of the study is to highlight the existing characteristics of MK in the context of density and define what the benefits of increasing density might bring to MK.  By defining and qualifying approaches to density, our report helps to the reader to visualise MK Council’s stated growth targets and makes the case for increased land intensification as a positive opportunity.
