EDF Energy recognises that sustainable procurement and supply chain management are core components of operating a responsible business.  Taking a strategic approach, ensuring whole life value for money, identifying efficiency savings, and managing reputational risks are all important issues that EDF Energy wants to tackle.

UP consultant Jo Dobson worked in-house with EDF Energy in 2013 and 2014 to improve their sustainable procurement and supply chain management processes at the organisational and product/service level. Jo supported the development and implementation of the corporate sustainable supply chain strategy, which aligns with best practice guidance including the DEFRA Flexible Framework, BS 8903 and the CIPS Sustainable Procurement Review.

Jo’s activities included baseline analysis, competitor analysis, expenditure and sustainability risk analysis, ongoing input into the procurement process and contracts, the development of processes and tools, capacity building workshops and the development of sustainability objectives for procurement.
