BNPP Scope 3 Carbon Footprint

BNP Paribas
Role:
GHG Analysis
Status:
Complete

BNP Paribas has an ambitious corporate social responsibility policy, is a pioneer in #PositiveBanking and acknowledges that it has a vital role to play in supporting the transition to a low carbon economy. BNP Paribas identified that a large proportion of its operational GHG emissions comes from its supply chain (Scope 3 emissions) but it did not understand the scale and source of these emissions.

Useful Projects was appointed to carry out baseline calculations for carbon emissions associated with procurement activities across the group’s UK business entities.  Our assessment aligned with the GHG Protocol Supplement to the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Accounting & Reporting Standard.

Our assessment identified the total scope 3 carbon footprint, as well as carbon intensity per business entity, and suppliers with the biggest carbon impact.  This established a strong basis for engaging with key suppliers to reduce procurement-related carbon emissions.
