All higher education institutions have to achieve significant reductions in carbon, with targets tied to future funding streams. For this project we initially developed a baseline energy model for all buildings across the Campus and compared this against benchmark data. We then prepared a replacement and maintenance strategy and provided recommendations on specifications for energy efficient new build development.

We also carried out an appraisal of appropriate technologies for a local heat network. This included development of a heat map, plant sizing, identifying strategic infrastructure routes, and proposing the location and form of an energy centre. In addition to the technical elements of the scheme appraisal, we also provided estimates of whole life cost and carbon, and advice on energy security, procurement routes, and operation and maintenance arrangements.
