Founded in 2008, Useful Projects brought together sustainability leadership and consultancy experience from the London 2012 Olympics, widely regarded as the most sustainable games ever. We have gone on to grow our depth of technical experience and practical action with organisations across the world.

Part of the Useful Simple Trust, we have over 20 years’ of multidisciplinary experience to deliver our mission: ‘to blaze a trail in the regeneration of our built and natural environment to meet the needs of all people and the planet’. As a B Corp, Social Enterprise, and Employee Benefit Trust, we do business differently.

Our team are recognised as industry leaders in sustainability, and part of our trailblazing mission is about sharing what we do for the sectors we work in.

In 2025, we were awarded ‘B Corp of the Year’ at the British Business Awards – one of many accolades acknowledging our pioneering business model and impact.

UST is committed to leadership on climate action, through our projects and the way we operate our business. In line with best practice, we have calculated our corporate carbon footprint, set official science-based targets, and developed a Carbon Reduction Plan.
