Useful Projects is delighted to be part of the Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) community as a registered ‘organisation in action’.
Our registration progressed from the appointment as Sustainability and Quality of Life Consultants for a large-scale regeneration project in Cambridge, named Core Site. The ambitious project will create a new district in north Cambridge delivering approximately 5,600 homes along with shops, workplaces, education, community and leisure facilities, in addition to an abundance of open spaces.
Joining DEAL involved us undertaking an analysis of key social and environmental concerns at a global, local, and neighbourhood level. To respond to these challenges, we were inspired by Kate Raworth’s Doughnut Economics which sets out a visionary framework for the 21st Century economy.
Her vision is simple; meet the needs of all people without exceeding the limits of our planetary boundaries, allowing for a shift to a regenerative and distributive economy. This led to us developing our own doughnut for Core Site.
We are excited to share our learning and stories of applying the Doughnut Economics framework with DEAL to inspire and provide learnings for others.
