In the latest edition of Circular Online, a news resource for sustainability professionals working in resources and waste, Sophie Thomas shares her expert insights in her article, ‘A legacy of design’.

“Being a designer is a really great job. To be able to use one’s creative energy in your day-to-day endeavours is a true privilege. However, being a designer that puts environmentalism and purpose at the same level of importance as form and function can be tough – a career path full of guilt and confiction.”

In her role as a designer, Sophie calculates the environmental footprint of her project designs and uses these as a tool to consider the whole-life process

Reflecting on the exemplary work done for the London Olympics 2012, Sophie discusses the importance of calculating the environmental footprint of design and using this as a tool to consider the whole-life process.

The result? A legacy that lives on in design practices today.
