The Netherlands is renowned for being leaders in the circular economy internationally. The UK is committed to moving towards a more circular economy and many regions and sectors have already made good strides in this area. There are significant opportunities for British-Dutch collaboration, and for Dutch circular economy companies to supply their products and services to the UK market.

The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands approached Useful Projects to produce an introductory guide to the circular economy in the UK, focusing on construction, manufacturing and waste management.

Specifically aimed at Dutch SMEs, the factsheet style report gives insights into understanding the current circular economy state of maturity, the policy framework, and business opportunities in the UK.  This factsheet also includes a graphical map highlighting key circular economy activity in different regions in the UK, including local authorities, businesses, Universities and institutions.

The construction, manufacturing and waste management sectors are examined more closely in form of three case studies, that include lessons learned from Dutch companies that have successfully entered these markets.

It is hoped that the factsheet will be a useful starting point for Dutch circular economy companies who are interested in doing business and collaborating in the UK, but haven’t done so before – particularly SMEs.
