It is with a deep sense of loss that we remember our dear friend and colleague, Simon Bradbury, who passed away on 6 October 2024.

Simon Bradbury - In Memoriam

Simon was an exceptional Head of Finance at the Useful Simple Trust (UST), where his thoughtful guidance and dedication helped shape our work and formed an integral part of the Central team.

Remembering Simon

Over the past six years, Simon was a talented professional whose kindness, humor, and positive spirit touched everyone he met. His calm, reassuring demeanor was a source of comfort and inspiration, reminding us of the importance of both heart and mind in our work. Simon’s impact reached far beyond his professional role – he leaves behind a legacy of trust, compassion, and dedication that will live on through the UST annual ‘Simon Bradbury Award for Going Above and Beyond’, honouring his enduring spirit and values.

Beyond his career, Simon was a unique and multifaceted individual. He was a son, brother, uncle, and fiancé who was deeply cherished by his family and friends. Simon’s thoughtful nature and vibrant personality were apparent in all aspects of his life, from his mischievous sense of humour to his generosity and boundless kindness. Known for his adventurous spirit, Simon had a passion for motorbiking and traveled widely, taking joy in the freedom and exhilaration of the open road with his beloved partner, Bettina.

Simon Bradbury and Enzo

Simon embraced life with a zest for both the big moments and small pleasures. He loved scuba diving, badminton and rugby. Having recently rediscovered his passion for running, Simon took part in the Oxford 10k in May 2024. He loved the simple joys of a cold pint, stargazing, gardening, cooking, and hosting BBQs at the beautiful, thatched cottage in Oxfordshire where he, Bettina, and their dog Enzo made their home.

A devoted Liverpool fan, Simon believed in the anthem ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ – words that resonate with all of us as we reflect on his life. He leaves behind a gift of friendship, laughter, and love, which will forever be remembered by those who knew him. As we honour his memory, we take comfort in the strength and joy Simon brought to our lives.
