We are delighted to have worked on this flagship project to provide technical and strategic advice to the 2014 Brazilian World Cup host cities on carbon management.

Our role included engagement and capacity building workshops on environmental management in 9 of the 12 host cities, reaching over 350 stakeholders.  We subsequently produced a GHG inventory guidance document for the 2014 World Cup and working with Best Foot Forward, produced a reference carbon footprint for Belo Horizonte.

In the second phase of the project we worked closely with the cities of Belo Horizonte, Curitiba and Fortaleza on carbon mitigation plans for the Cup and legacy development.

The Brazilian Government’s Head of Environment described the project as “one of the main drivers for the implementation of sustainability measures by the World Cup Host Cities.”
